A former GOP lawmaker from West Virginia is facing some backlash after posting a picture on social media depicting democratic politicians hanging from nooses from a Christmas tree.

In a since-deleted post, Derrick Evans who was also involved in the January 6 fascist riots in Washington DC posted a picture with the likes of President Joe Biden, Representative Nancy Pelosi, and Vice President Kamala Harris hanging from the tree from a noose tied around their necks. Additionally, the ornaments featuring the likenesses of former President Barack Obama, ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former presidential Chief Medical Advisor Anthony Fauci were also seen in the photo.

An ornament depicting former president and GOP candidate Donald Trump was also included without a noose.

After deleting the image, Evans wrote “Not my tree. Not my ornaments. Not in good taste,”. He further added, “NOT a call for violence. I shouldn’t have used a day to celebrate the birth of Jesus for anything political (good taste or poor taste). Let’s go celebrate this time with our families in love and peace.”

Users on Twitter responded to Evans saying the former lawmaker needed to be “locked up again” while tagging the FBI and Capitol Police. Others noted if the post could affect Evans’ release conditions given he’s currently under court-supervised release until 2025, according to Department of Justice records.
