Podcaster Joe Rogan continues to prove time and time again the tremendous dirtbag he actually is. His COVID-19 disinformation campaign brought his relationship with Spotify into question this past week as the music streaming service opted for its bottom line than helping to curtail the same shitty rhetoric that’s kept us in this fucking pandemic.

But things with Rogan didn’t stop there. Now the host is having to put out new fires after audio has surfaced of Rogan using the n-word like it was common vernacular for himself.

And of course, Rogan apologized, tried to pass off the situation as a misunderstanding of context, and that he “hasn’t used the n-word in years” like that’s some sort of justifiable excuse. “Hey everyone, I haven’t been an outwardly racist fuck in years!”

Even when I hear white people try to hide behind the context of the usage of the n-word I cringe. Because in part I know the next hole they’re going to dig themselves is when they lay the “I have a lot of black friends” excuse on you or Ana Kasparian of TYT’s who seemingly tries to justify its usage for the sake of journalistic integrity.

In ANY sense though I’m reminded of what Ice Cube told Bill Maher in the aftermath of Maher trying to get away with his own use of the word.

And quite frankly Ice Cube’s take is where this all needs to be left at. Because at the end of the day the context of which a white person tries to justify the usage of the n-word also doesn’t matter. It’s just another example of a white person’s perceived privilege as they once again try to take control of a situation that they aren’t in control of any longer.

So, white people, stop hiding behind the “context” because there is no justifiable context. There is no double-standard, there’s just flat-out racism.
