“Free speech absolutist” Elon Musk has begun purging journalists on Twitter who were either covering him, critical of him, and/or left of center.

The list of those suspended from the platform seems to be ever growing but that the time includes CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan, Mashable’s Matt Binder, WaPo’s Drew Hartwell, and Aaron Rupar who often posted critical video snippets of right-wing politicians and pundits.

Additionally, the anarchist news collective “It’s Going Down” was also suspended from the platform as well as the account for Mastodon, an alternative social media site many individuals have been resorting to.

Apparently, the bans stem from Twitter’s new “rules” that aimed at jet trackers, specifically the account that tracked his personal jet @ElonJet. It’s assumed some of the more recent bans of the aforementioned journalists had to do with their coverage of the ban, and/or posting links to Mastodon where @ElonJet now lives.

Ironically, shortly after Musk took over Twitter in November he tweeted that he would not ban the account that tracked his jet.
