Don’t expect legendary director Martin Scorsese to have any part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe anytime soon.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Scorsese who’s responsible for the likes of Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and Goodfellas got all pretentious when it came to the MCU saying those movies are “not cinema”.

The Guardian:

“I tried, you know?” the director said when asked if he had seen Marvel’s movies. “But that’s not cinema.”

He continued: “Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.”

In response to Scorsese, Avengers director Joss Whedon responded “I rever Marty, & I do see his point, but… Well there’s a reason why ‘I’m always angry,’ Whedon tweeted.

Anyways, it’s not clear how many bottles of Don Scorsese had shoved up his ass when he made those comments, however it seems clear that the Director’s taste for movies doesn’t transcend flicks who are good for taking naps too.

Okay… that’s going a bit far but what kind of close-minded asshole do you have to be to make the comment he made without actually taking time to watch the movies you’re taking shots at?
