According to the New York Times, Donald Trump‘s chief economic advisor Gary Cohn is set to resign as the revolving door in and out of the White House keeps spinning.

Here’s Trump’s statement to the NYT:

“Gary has been my chief economic adviser and did a superb job in driving our agenda, helping to deliver historic tax cuts and reforms and unleashing the American economy once again,” Mr. Trump said in a statement to The New York Times. “He is a rare talent, and I thank him for his dedicated service to the American people.”

Cohn’s departure isn’t a surprise but is the second high-profile White House exit in as many weeks after Hope Hicks announced last week she too would be leaving the administration. Cohn was thought to be on his way out after the Charlottesville incident last August where the President referred to suspected White Nationalist protestors as ‘very fine people’. Cohn’s ultimate decision to leave however may have been finalized over the past couple of days when Trump announced that he planned to impose large tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from U.S. allies.

At one point, Cohn was thought to be a replacement for John Kelly as White House chief of staff as the General continues to meet scrutiny in the position. Meanwhile Kelly commented on Cohn’s impending departure saying he would “miss having him as a partner in the White House, but he departs having made a real impact in the lives of the American people.”

But despite the apparent chaos in the White House, Trump continues to maintain that everything is fine while proclaiming that any idea as such is driven up by the ‘fake news media’.

Right.
