In the wake of the MLB opting to pull the All-Star Game and first-year draft out of Atlanta and the state of Georgia entirely due to the racist voter suppression bill signed into law by Governor Brian Kemp, former President Donald Trump has weighed in called for a boycott of Major League Baseball.

“Baseball is already losing tremendous numbers of fans, and now they leave Atlanta with their All-Star Game because they are afraid of the Radical Left Democrats who do not want voter I.D., which is desperately needed, to have anything to do with our elections,” Trump said in a statement.

“Boycott baseball and all of the woke companies that are interfering with Free and Fair Elections. Are you listening Coke, Delta, and all!,” Trump added further addressing the companies that have spoken against Georgia’s new suppression law.

Other right-wing voices chimed in, including former Georgia senator Kelly Loeffler who tried to make some nonsensical claim of reverse racism but instead was hilariously ironic considering the underlying reasoning behind the Georgia bill is to make it harder for people of color to cast a ballot in future elections.

In addition, republicans led by Representative Jeff Duncan of South Carolina will now seek to draft a bill that’ll remove a federal antitrust exemption for MLB, which has been in place since a 1922 Supreme Court decision that ruled that the league is a sport and not a business according to a Fox Business report. Mike Lee of Utah agreed and added, “[i]t’s time for the federal government to stop granting special privileges to specific, favored corporations — especially those that punish their political opponents.”

The right continues to have zero shame when it comes to their blatant hypocrisy concerning “cancel culture”. It’s really quite remarkable, especially considering Republicans love to play the victim and that of the repressed. Look no further than Colin Kaepernick, the NFL, and Mike Pence‘s theatrics when he walked out of a Colts game when players kneeled during the National Anthem.

Nonetheless, conservatives, republicans, and those on the right continue to hold firm on the belief that any challenge to white supremacy and the idea of egalitarianism is a direct threat to their own “freedoms”. This latest news with the MLB is just further proof of that.
