Sunday morning, CNN’s Fareed Zakaria gave an incredibly surprising and honest critique of the U.S. Empire and the military-industrial complex in the United States, relatively speaking for a corporate media network.

Zakaria, highlighted the obvious intentions of the U.S. to use China as a reason to expand on an already bloated military budget while painting an even larger picture of military spending by the United States juxtaposed to other world powers. This includes China who’s military budget and military power, in general, is dwarfed by that of the U.S.

Now I don’t want to give CNN too much credit here because, for Zakaria’s just over two minutes of honesty on the subject, the corporate network will return with the likes of Michael Smerconish and/or Jake Tapper to continue to push the network’s brand of neoliberal bullshit that helps fuel neoconservative foreign policy.

Something like this is worth pointing out though because hopefully, this short clip of honesty will continue to help change the minds of some in this country. To the extent of actually abandon this faux patriotism of military support at all cost and press for more changes that’ll improve the material conditions of everyday people.
