Vermont Senator and Democratic Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders was apparently briefed by U.S. intelligence officials about a report in the Washington Post released today that Russia is actively trying to help his campaign during the Democratic Primaries.

When approached about the report, Sanders was pretty candid on his feelings regarding the allegations, specifically the timing of the Washington Post on the eve of the Nevada Caucuses.

The timing isn’t surprising from a corporate paper like Jeff Bezo’s Washington Post who employs the likes of Jennifer Rubin and whose run of exploiting his workforce while he collects his billions will probably be hindered to some extent under a Sanders presidency. Nonetheless, Sanders, his campaign, and his supporters will continue to hear it from corporate democrats and their neoliberal supporters for Sanders denouncing the mainstream, corporate media in their hit pieces against him. I mean right now the hashtag #BernieisaRussianAsset is trending on Twitter while social media tries to paint Sanders and Trump in the same light when it comes to their attitude towards the mainstream media.

What isn’t being discussed though are the very important distinctions between Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders and their attitudes towards mainstream corporate media.

Unlike Trump, the media isn’t giving Sanders massive amounts of free press like the POTUS enjoyed during his 2016 campaign. Hell, a great argument could be made that it was the likes of CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC who played a big role in getting Trump elected while relatively ignoring a large portion of that massive GOP primary field. Meanwhile, the only substantial time Sanders gets is when you have a nonsensical Chris Matthews claiming that he (Matthews) is going to be assassinated in Central Park in a Sanders presidency or Chuck Todd attributing Bernie supporters to Nazi Brown Shirts.

Not to mention, it’s a little funny and ironic that the mainstream media is unbelievably looking to latch on to another Russia election conspiracy while denouncing any thought of DNC fuckery against Sanders this election cycle. This of course despite the well-documented shit the DNC pulled against Sanders back in 2016.

Lastly, if the mainstream, corporate media and neoliberal supporters want to label Sanders as a “Trumpian” candidate while crying over decorum and civility then whatever, have at it. The last time I checked though, this wasn’t the message being conveyed at a Donald Trump rally.
