Don Imus is dead.

The longtime radio host who has had a history of misogyny and racism died Friday morning at the age of 79 two years after retiring from a radio show that fell on mostly deaf ears, thanks in large part to Howard Stern killing his career in the late 1980s.

NBC News:

Radio shock jock Don Imus, one of the pioneers of his genre, died Friday less than two years after retiring, according to a family statement given to NBC New York.

He was 79.

He died Friday after being hospitalized at the Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in College Station, Texas, his family said. The cause of death was not divulged, but early this year Imus said on air that he had prostate cancer.

Imus’ true colors as a racist shitbag largely were displayed back in 2007 when the assclown in an oversized cowboy had referred to the Rutgers women’s basketball team as “nappy-headed hos.” That remark led to his firing at NBC before he re-emerged on the airwaves with WABC.

However, it wasn’t just the African-American community that Imus took aim at. According to a New York Times blog in 2006, the now dead radio host also dabbled in antisemitism.

Shortly before Christmas last year, syndicated radio star and MSNBC host Don Imus called the book publishers Simon & Schuster “thieving Jews” (Imus in the Morning, 12/15/04), returning to the subject later in the program to offer a mock apology, saying that the phrase he used was “redundant.”

… Imus [also] called Washington Post media writer Howard Kurtz “that boner-nosed … beanie-wearing little Jew boy” (Newsday, 10/19/98).

So, no we’re not going to wax nostalgic about some “legendary career” of Don Imus. The guy was a shitstain who should always be remembered as such.
