Given the political landscape the World needs a band like Rage Against the Machine.
And it sounds like a reunion for the iconic group could still be a possibility since not much has changed since 2011 when the band last played together. However at the same time, nothing changing in the mindset of a reunion really also isn’t a good thing either.
Rage guitarist Tom Morello confirmed the lack of movement on a reunion but also seemed to confirm that pretty much everyone was on board for one with the exception of front man Zach De La Rocha.

RAtM front man Zach De La Rocha is the lone holdout. Despite somewhat in contact with his former band mates, the De La Rocha just doesn’t want to reprise Rage.
“There’s no movement on that front, sorry to say,” Morello said. “While fans lament the fact that Rage Against the Machine doesn’t exist, I’d say there’s a lot of music out there that speaks to these times, including my Atlas Underground [solo] record, but not exclusively.
Morello though echoed the sentiments that the time was never ‘more right’ for a band like Rage…
“I think there’s never been a time more right for Rage Against the Machine, and to have music…” he said. “I’ve tried throughout my career to make music that is uncompromising both musically and lyrically — that’s exactly what Rage Against the Machine did. And if a Rage show ever breaks out, I’d be happy to play guitar, yeah.”
In the meantime though, if three fourths of the RAtM lineup can hold you over until that one day (hopefully) when the band is able to reunite, we’ll have to settle for Prophets of Rage which is scheduled to regroup in July and August. Morello also confirmed that the band was also planning to record new material soon.
