The two most powerful Democrats in Washington D.C. have publicly called for the removal of Donald Trump from office.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer have called for vice president Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove the President of the United States in the wake of the Trump provoked insurrection at the Capitol Wednesday.

Pelosi accused Trump of committing “seditious acts” and that his remaining 13 days in office would be “very dangerous”. Schumer meanwhile said that if Pence doesn’t act, Congress should move forward with articles of impeachment something that Pelosi hasn’t ruled out.

House rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shared a screenshot of Articles of Impeachment already drafted by fellow congresswoman Ilhan Omar.

Earlier today, Illinois congressman Adam Kinzinger became the first Republican to call for Trump’s removal while a number of Democrats including Reps. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), Brad Sherman (D-Calif.), Eric Swalwell have all also called for the POTUS’ removal.

It’s probably important to note that if Pelosi does pursue impeachment, no POTUS has ever been impeached from office twice.
