Authorities have arrested Tyler Robinson, 22, in connection with the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University earlier this week.
Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was shot in the neck while speaking at an outdoor event on September 10. Investigators say the shot was fired from a rooftop about 200 yards away.
Robinson was taken into custody Thursday night in Washington County, Utah, about 250 miles from the crime scene. Officials say he allegedly confessed to a family member, who then tipped off law enforcement.
Police recovered a Mauser rifle near the scene and bullet casings with politically charged messages. Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said Robinson appeared to have acted alone.
Formal charges are expected in the coming days.
