It’s been well over a decade since Tool last graced us with 2006’s 10,000 Days however the long wait for it’s followup may be coming to an end.

According to frontman Maynard James Keenan, the legendary progressive metal band is one song away from completing their still untitled release.

Although things seem to be much more definite on his side project A Perfect Circle’s next release, Maynard is still a little ambiguous when it comes to given any kind of timeline for Tool’s new music.

Thankfully, Tool guitarist Adam Jones gave fans some time stamps saying on Instagram that the band intends to head into the studio in April. Jones also reposted some comments from Skid Row‘s Sebastian Bach who had a glowing review of Tool’s new music after paying the group a visit recently.

AV Club:

This is progressive metal at its most atmospheric and right when you get into a groovy trance you get beat over the head with riffs so heavy it feels like a TOOL. Some tunes were so pummelling it felt like I was getting a deep tissue massage! in fact they could call the record that. No song was shorter than 7 minutes and some were 20 minutes long!

Last year, Tool posted a mysterious teaser leading to rumors that a new Tool release was imminent. Maynard however shut down the speculation saying that nothing would be released by the band in 2017.

2018 however will hopefully be a different story.
