Explosions reported at Istanbul airport

Istanbul

Two explosions and gunfire have been reported at Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul, Turkey.

Early reports are raw but officials are stating that two individuals blew themselves up prior to entering the x-ray checkpoints. The photographs being posted on Twitter also look pretty grim.

Police also reportedly fired shots at the two suspects in an attempt to neutralize them.

It’s unclear who’s responsible for the attack however Turkey has been no stranger to suicide attacks like this in the past. In addition to their proximity to ISIS, Turkey has also suffered attacks from Kurdish insurgent groups.

The Turkish Justice Minister is now reporting that at least 10 people have been killed as a result of the attacks. It’s assumed many more have been injured.

We’ll have more as it develops.

UPDATE: Turkish officials are reporting that 28 have been killed and over 60 wounded when THREE suicide bombers detonated their vests just outside the international arrivals terminal.

Turkish officials also believe the attack was coordinated by ISIS.
