Donald Trump once again took aim at Special Counsel Robert Mueller Sunday in a series of tweets directed at the investigation but more notably into the 2016 Trump Tower meeting orchestrated in large part by his son Donald Trump Jr. This morning the POTUS admitted the meeting was to ‘get information on an opponent’ – presumably Hillary Clinton – but that it was ‘totally legal’.

In recent days its been reported the POTUS has been growing ever more concerned about Mueller potentially diving further into Don Jr.’s involvement in that meeting and his son’s growing legal jeopardy as a result.

Initially since the New York Times broke the news on the meeting, Trump Jr. first made mention that the sit down with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya was to discuss a Russian adoption issue and that it was “not a campaign issue at the time.” The following day in July 2017, Trump Jr. admitted that the meeting was primarily set up to get dirt on Hillary Clinton as he did a 180 on his original explanation.

Further reports suggested that Donald Trump had no knowledge of the meeting but that the President did author an explanation for Don Jr. aboard Air Force One something the White House has gone back-and-forth on.

Meanwhile last month, Trump’s former personally attorney Michael Cohen is reportedly willing to tell Mueller that the President did indeed know about the Trump Tower meeting prior to it taking place.
