Steve King

Republican House rep. Steve King continues to be a total fucking embarrassment to Iowa and the United States in general as he continued his unapologetic racist tirade through the media.

During a Tuesday interview with Iowa AM radio station 1040 WHO, King was asked about comments made by Univision anchor Jorge Ramos last week touching on the notion that whites will be a racial minority come 2024.

“Jorge Ramos’s stock in trade is identifying and trying to drive wedges between race … race and ethnicity, I should say to be more correct,” he said. “When you start accentuating the differences, then you start ending up with people who are at each other’s throats.”

“He’s adding up Hispanics and blacks into what he predicts will be in greater number than whites in America,” King said. “I will predict that Hispanics and the blacks will be fighting each other before that happens.”

These latest comments of course have been piggybacking off his original comments this past weekend where he expressed an agreement with Dutch far-right prime Geert Wilders saying “understands that culture and demographics are our destiny.”

King was also quick to add a dash of xenophobia as well:

Then there was this today:

King was offered a chance to step back on his original twitter comments when snugging up to Dutch right-wing xenophobe on CNN’s New Day Monday but balked at the opportunity. In fact he in a way doubled down by refusing to identify all American’s as being equal.

“certain groups of people” contribute less to society, and admitted he hopes to see “an America that’s just so homogenous that we look a lot the same.”

“of course I meant exactly what I said, as is always the case.”

King drew the ire of some of his republican constituents who refused to back him. And in typical Donald Trump fashion, the White House gave a sugar-coated dismissal of Kings’ comments via Baghdad Bob Sean Spicer:

“The President believes this is not a point of view he shares,” White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said at his daily press briefing when asked for President Trump’s views on King’s remarks.

“He believes he’s the President for all Americans, and so I’ll leave it at that,” Spicer added.

But that’s the new norm now right? Saying what’s on your mind even it’s totally bigoted in nature. That’s the atmosphere Trump helped create. And please spare me the rhetoric that King was just ‘speaking his mind’ and that there was nothing racist about what he said. The guy is an elected official representing a district in Iowa which I’m sure consist of some who aren’t blonde hair and blue eyes. Lets also not forget how he preference today’s backwards talking about of his ass.
