Former Trump national security advisor Mike Flynn is back in the news tonight in such a way that’s going to make the White House wonder whether or not the failed GOP Health Care bill was the worse thing to happen the past couple of weeks.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Flynn – through his lawyer – has indicated that he’s willing to testify in the ongoing investigation into Russia meddling with the U.S. Presidential election but only if he’s granted immunity.
WASHINGTON—Mike Flynn, President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser, has told the Federal Bureau of Investigation and congressional officials investigating the Trump campaign’s potential ties to Russia that he is willing to be interviewed in exchange for a grant of immunity from prosecution, according to officials with knowledge of the matter.
As an adviser to Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign, and later one of Mr. Trump’s top aides in the White House, Mr. Flynn was privy to some of the most sensitive foreign-policy deliberations of the new administration and was directly involved in discussions about the possible lifting of sanctions on Russia imposed by the Obama administration.
So the same guy who basically said who gets immunity is probably ‘guilty of a crime’ is seeking that same immunity in a scandal that’s engulfed Donald Trump’s first 1oo days.
Not to say that Mike Flynn is guilty of a crime however it’s hard to look past that smoking gun that’s been billowing from the Trump White House and back to the Kremlin.
Will Flynn roll on the Trump campaign and the current administration? I guess we may soon find out however if anyone knows of collusion with Russia it’s the former national security advisor.
