After spending the past 48 hours doubling down on blatant plagiarism, the Trump campaign seems to be doing a 180 after Melania Trump‘s RNC speech had some obvious word-for-word similarities with a speech given by Michelle Obama during the 2008 Democratic National Convention.
According to a statement released by the GOP presidential nominee’s campaign, Meredith McIver – an in house staff writer for the Trump Organization – was apparently the one behind the now highly scrutinized Melania Trump speech. Furthermore, McIver offered her resignation that was wasn’t accepted by Donald Trump himself who told her that ‘people make innocent mistakes’.

After all the bashing the Trump campaign has done of Barack Obama, it’s ironic and hilarious that Michelle Obama is someone Melania has ‘always’s liked’. Perhaps she’s a little more genuine than her husband?
Additionally, these statements only further prove the complete lack of organization and laziness within the Trump campaign. So Melania is going to read passages from Michelle Obama’s 2008 speech that she liked, you’re going to write them down, include them in a speech and not do a final cross-check before sending the final draft to print?
Again, laziness, lack of organization and/or perhaps another finely choreographed lie from the Trump campaign.
Anyways, if you haven’t heard the speeches yet, here they are:
