Diet Coke is getting a rebrand along with four new flavors to its lineup that already seems to be have some connoisseurs of the beverage freaking out over a recipe change.

According to the beverage maker, they’ll be rolling out four new flavors which in addition to the original will include ginger lime, feisty cherry, zesty blood orange and twister mango.

However the original recipe will remain unchanged so people can stop freaking out that.

But why the rebrand. Apparently Diet Coke and pull its own weight across the Coke lineup.

Via Business Insider:

For the last few years, Diet Coke has been the weakest link in the company’s cola lineup. In October, Coca-Cola reported the brand’s sales by volume declined in the mid-single digits last quarter. Industry publication Beverage Digest reported Diet Coke US sales by the dollar dropped 1.9% in 2016.

Despite the decline, Coca-Cola determined that the risk of alienating loyal customers with a new recipe was too great. Adding new flavors, along with a more modern design and ad campaign, is an attempt to fix the brand without incurring the wrath of loyalists.

I’m going to go ahead and put my money on the four additional flavors being flops and will soon join the likes of Crystal Pepsi and Slice in the beverage afterlife.
